TAST 2012 week 4 Cretan Stitch

Just a quick note.  I have been extremely busy.  My oldest daughter just had baby number three on Thursday, so I didn't have as much time as I was expecting.  I watched her twin boys the last two days and am pretty much exhausted.  But I finished my freehand stitching of week 4 for TAST 2012:  Cretan Stitch.  I did a lot of stitching so I think I can do this stitch now OK.

TAST 2012 Week 3 Feather Stitch

This week the stitch used for Take a Stitch Tuesday on Sharon Boggon's site is the feather stitch.  Find all of the submissions here (http://www.pintangle.com/journal/2012/1/17/take-a-stitch-tuesday-week-3.html) in the comment section.  Make sure that you look at the end of the week to see most of them.

I started out by sketching ideas in two of my sketch books.  At first I thought that this would be a hard stitch to use for a landscape type picture, but I was wrong.

Then I had extra time to do my stitching.  Below are the two things I made.  I am pleased with the outcome.

Thank you to all who view my embroidery!

Take a Stitch Tuesday--Buttonhole stitch

I wanted to do something a bit more for week 2 of TAST.

I started by drawing ideas in my sketch book.
Then I did buttonhole stitch on felt using wool and silk threads
I then needle felted it using my Babylock embellisher.  Next time I won't needle felt it so much (If I do it again.)

Last of all I did more buttonhole stitch on top of everything.

You can see more work using the buttonhole stitch listed in the comments here:

Tree of Life

I was suppose to be done with my crazy quilt Tree of Life project by this Sunday, but my life is too busy and the project is way too large to get done in time.  Here is what I have done so far:

I have filled in most of the branches.  I need to finish the main middle trunk and branches.  Then I have lots of embroidery to do on the bottom patches.  I have made many embroidered leaves on wool fabric that I will attach with beads after most of the other embroidery is done.  I wanted to do a good job on this so even though I can't enter the contest--it is worth doing it well.  I guess this is my slow cloth project.

Take a Stitch Tuesday

I finally did my stitching for Take a Stitch Tuesday (found on Sharon Boggon's website:
www.Pintangle.com

It took me awhile to decide what kind of format to use, but I finally decided to try and make a picture on felt just using the one stitch each week.  This week wasn't too hard.  We will see how it works out as the weeks progress.

I also decided it works out better to sketch out some ideas before actually doing the embroidery.  As you can see on the top in blue--I was a bit crooked, but it was easy to fix. (I hate taking out embroidery stitches if I don't have to.
Some of my Fly Stitch ideas.
